The traditional Semenov nesting dolls, from the upper Volga region, are hand painted in a simple folk style that has endured over the decades. The nesting matryoshka doll is a international favorite. Almost everyone loves to explore anything that can be opened, just to see what is inside. The Semenov doll is the the perfect doll with which to introduce a favorite youngster to the joys of matryoshka collecting!
The doll is entirely hand painted at the Golden Cockerel workshop in St. Petersburg, Russia. The artists painstakingly hand paint every detail, beginning with backgrounds and moving to the finer elements that require a brush of very select Siberian squirrel hair. Then the dolls have multiple layers of non-toxic water-based lacquer applied.
